The Testing Center at Sojourner-Douglass College functions and operates under the general policies
that promote high quality operations, ethical practices as outlined in the Code for Fair Testing
Practices in Education, professional mandates, and policies consistent with NCTA and this
institution. The Center is designed to acquaint students with various standardized tests needed
in order to pursue their future educational and/or employment goals that lead to
meaningful lives.
Specifically, the assessment program at Sojourner-Douglass College is developed to provide a
viable testing program that will lead to improved achievement as measured by test results, for
all students. These measures are designed to enable college leaders in the various capacities to
work as a cooperative team in suggesting and providing strategies to enhance necessary skills and
knowledge that are essential to attain the goals of the Academic Improvement Plan of S-DC.
A major function of the Center is to provide Praxis professional preparation for our education
major students, as well as for public school teachers, in raising their test scores to the
national level.
